A Missouri Lottery player in Christian County had quite the eventful week after discovering a $100,000 top prize on a “$500 Frenzy” Scratchers ticket. She described the experience as “really incredible.”

“I had been cleaning the house getting ready for surgery, and I told my husband I was going to the gas station to buy $20 worth of tickets,” she explained.

When she arrived at Maverik, 305 W. South St. in Ozark, she bought four $5 tickets and started scratching.

“First one I scratched off said $10,000. And I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m gonna take it up there already since I’ve won $10,000!’” she laughed. “But I figured I should keep scratching. It was $10,000 and another $10,000 and another $10,000 – and I ended up with $100,000!”

Her next step was to get ahold of her husband.

She recounted, “Instead of standing up and yelling or screaming or anything like I thought I would, I calmly called my husband and said, ‘You need to come down here to Maverik.’”

“Scared me to death,” her husband chimed in with a chuckle.

When he arrived, he scanned the ticket through the Players Club app to verify the big win.

The couple said they’re excited to complete a few home repairs and do what they can to help others with their winnings.

In FY25, players in Christian County won more than $9.5 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $920,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $3.7 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
