A Missouri Lottery player in Mexico is thrilled after uncovering a $50,000 prize on a $3 Scratchers ticket. The winner said he and his wife play Scratchers regularly as part of their time on the road.

“Wherever we stop, we typically get one or two (Scratchers),” he said. “We usually play the $2 and $3 ones.”

So, it was just another stop for the couple when they headed into FastLane, 503 W. Monroe St. in Mexico and bought a “Cosmic Crossword” Scratchers ticket. 

The winner said he couldn’t believe what he was seeing upon revealing a top prize.

“We looked over it a couple of times!” he laughed. “We thought we’d scratched something that wasn’t on there or something.”

The winner said he plans to put most of the prize money into savings. 

In FY25, Audrain County players won more than $4.3 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $418,000 in commissions and bonuses, and more than $805,000 in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
