A Missouri Lottery player experienced quite the audience reaction as he discovered a $50,000 Powerball prize on a ticket he purchased at FastLane, 1001 Tom Ginnever Ave., in O’Fallon.

The winner said he’d forgotten the ticket in his wallet and only remembered to check it while running errands.

“I ran to a gas station, and while there in line I thought, ‘Oh, I’ll check my ticket,’” he said. “So I scanned it, and I believe the machine said something to the effect of ‘See the Lottery Office.’”

Initially, he thought he’d won a different prize.

“I’m aware that prizes over $600 can’t be redeemed at the location,” he explained. “So I was like, ‘Oh, I might’ve won $600!’”

Once he returned home to his family that night, they helped him discover the real value of his winning ticket.  

“I gave it to my oldest daughter, and she was trying to look up the numbers. My nephew and daughter’s boyfriend were there, too, and they were all scrambling on their phones,” he recalled. “Then they said, ‘I think you just won $50,000!’ The whole family was there just hoopin’ and hollerin’!”

The winning numbers for the June 27 drawing were 3, 16, 28, 30, and 59, with a Powerball number of 11.

Powerball is a multi-state game with drawings held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. The game’s current jackpot is $707 million, its largest since Dec. 24, 2025.

In FY25, St. Charles County players won more than $72.5 million in Missouri Lottery prizes, retailers received more than $6.1 million in commissions and bonuses, and more than $13.7 million in Lottery proceeds went to education programs in the county.
